In the time-honoured tradition of rave tape packs, Low End Activist returns to Sneaker Social Club with a heavyweight collection of versions drawing on his seismic debut LP Hostile Utopia.

Looking at the cast of remixers invited to wrestle with LEA’s productions, the mutant grime energy of the album holds true across the A side of the limited edition tape. Scratchclart, Josi Devil, SKRSINTL, Logos, Grandmixxer, aya, Blazer Sound System, Trends, FFT and Al Wootton all represent starkly individual styles within the blurry outlines of the modern day soundsystem music landscape. Casting vivid new backdrops to the mic flow of Emz, Killa P and Mez, it’s a versatile but strangely cohesive rip through an alternative universe for Hostile Utopia.

Flipping the tape or waiting for the Auto-Reverse to kick in, LEA strips back the likes of ‘Mercenary’, ‘Get Get’, ‘DFRNT STYLE’ and ‘Superhighway’ to let the deft beat constructions shine through, while the instrumental of Grandmixxer’s take on ‘Get Get’ enjoys a bonus VIP treatment for extended weightless club pleasure. Alongside the tape and digital release, Spring 2023 will see a limited run of dubplate 12”s landing for those who want to spin a weighty platter to match the size of the tunes inside.
